About the Competition

The competition will be conducted in two phases, providing participants with a dynamic platform to showcase both their written and oral advocacy skills in arbitration.

Phase I: Award Submission

  • The first phase will be conducted online.

  • It begins with the announcement of the competition and the opening of registrations. After the case record is released, participants will have to prepare and submit their drafts of an arbitral award.

  • These submissions will be carefully scored, and based on the evaluations, 15-20 teams will be shortlisted to advance to the next phase. The announcement of the shortlisted teams marks the conclusion of Phase I.

Phase II: Award Presentation

  • The second phase will be held in person at the NLIU, Bhopal campus. Shortlisted teams will participate in an elimination round, during which they will present their drafts in an oral format.

  • Teams have the flexibility to choose their presentation style, but must focus on the content of their written submission. Judges and the audience may pose questions to the teams during the presentations.

  • Teams will be judged on both their draft submissions and their ability to present their work, justify their arbitral award with legal reasoning, and respond to questions.

  • The top four teams will advance to the final round, where they will present again. Based on the final presentations, teams will be ranked as the winner, first runners-up, and second runners-up.

  • Detailed rule book will be released with the release of the case record.

Panel Discussion

  • During the offline phase of the competition, the judges of the advanced round along with other luminaries in the field of arbitration will engage in a panel discussion on the central theme of the case record.
